Pictured above is Murdo “Squegg” Macleod being presented with an inscribed memento, by former player and manager “DR” Macleod, in recognition of his 300th appearance for Carloway FC against Ness FC  in the Jock Stein Cup tie on Monday night 15th April. He made his first appearance for Carloway FC on 17 July 2002, when as a Lochs FC player, he came off the bench in the second leg of the Eilean an Fhraoich Cup semi final against Point FC, losing 1-0 on the night (aggregate score was 0-3).The squad on that night was as follows:

1. Goalkeeper Roddy ‘Scratch’ Maclean
2. Donald ‘Beag’ Mackay
3. Gordon ‘Tago’ MacDonald
4. Graeme ‘Windy’ Miller
5. Chris ‘Christy’ Smith
6. Kenny ‘Dokus’ MacDonald
7. George Smith
8. John ‘Uig’ Morrison
9. Calum Iain Macdonald
10. Gordon Craigie
11. Iain ‘Mac’ Maclean
12. Reserve Donald Chisholm
13. Reserve James Stoddart
14. Reserve Murdo ‘Squegg’ Macleod

He made a further two Eilean an Fhraoich Cup appearances in 2003, and since 2005 he has been an integral part of the Carloway FC set up. During his spell with the Club he has scored 24 goals and has 46 assists to his credit. He is a former captain of the Club and the inaugural winner of the Players’ Player of the year in 2008. In the 2012 season, when we won two trophies in a week (the first trophies won in over 50 years) and also in 2013 when we won the league, no player made more appearances than “Squegg” in both seasons. It is also to his credit that not only has he made a real contribution on the pitch but he has also over the years made a contribution off the park  for which the Carloway FC  committee are extremely grateful.
