Carloway Football Club would also like to pass on their condolences to the family of the late John M Macleod (Peddy), aged 68 years, formerly of Knock Carloway who died on Friday 11th March and who had suffered from ill health for many years.

Peddy was a former committee member of the Club who, despite moving to Stornoway many years ago, continued to support our fund-raising efforts by not only selling our weekly football tickets but was also a regular attendee at the Whist Drives we held in Doune Braes in the 80s & 90s.

Peddy was a talented footballer in his youth, playing for Thistle, a team which was formed after Carloway fell out of the league in the early 60s and who played their home fixtures at Cnoc a’ Choilich Carloway and Cherrapunji Football Park, Shawbost. He also made his contribution to local football by taking on the position of Secretary of the Lewis & Harris Football Association for several years.

Gone too soon.
